A Long Journey Home

Our team in India, despite many challenges, continues to be more and more effective at rescuing victims. India is a massive country. New Delhi, India's capital, is filled with countless brothels making it seemingly impossible to locate trafficking victims. Sting operations are highly sensitive, requiring rescue teams to keep a low profile at all times. If a victim is moved hours away from the city for any number of reasons, it becomes even more challenging to locate and rescue her.

For this reason, we always intensely celebrate when victims are successfully rescued and go through the repatriation process to come back to Nepal. They are welcomed into the security and stability of the Safe House.

It is nothing short of miraculous when the survivors of trafficking return home from India and are welcomed as our daughters.

Four of our current residents at the Safe Home are Rekha, Priyanka, Monu and Pabina. They each experienced this long, arduous journey home as they were rescued from different parts of India. They traveled back to Nepal through the Krishnanagar border and are now in our care. They have begun psychological counseling to help them cope with the trauma of their past pain. They have also started motivational group sessions with the other daughters at the Safe Home and will soon begin vocational training.
